Raptors Rookie Colter Dick Embraces Hectic Schedule Balancing NBA and G League

Toronto Raptors 20-year-old rookie forward Colt Dickey is trying to adjust to the rhythm of playing part-time in the NBA and the G-League.

Colter Dick, the Toronto Raptors' 20-year-old rookie forward, is adjusting to the demands of playing in both the NBA and the G League. Drafted 13th overall in last summer's draft, Dick has been splitting time between the Raptors and their G League affiliate, Raptors 905.

The hectic schedule has been the biggest challenge for Dick, who is constantly traveling between cities for games and practices. He recently had a stretch where he played for Raptors 905 in Maine, was called up to the Raptors for a game in Toronto, but had to be scratched due to illness, rejoined Raptors 905 for a game in White Plains, New York, and could potentially return to Toronto for a game against the Miami Heat, only to travel back to New York for another G League game.

Despite the chaotic schedule, Dick is embracing the challenge and finding ways to adapt. He is averaging 3.9 points, 1.5 rebounds, and one assist in 14.7 minutes with the Raptors and 15 points, 2.7 rebounds, and an assist in 36.9 minutes per game in the G League.

Team management has advised Dick not to change his style of play between the two teams, but to simply execute with greater efficiency and make good decisions. Raptors head coach Darko Rajakovic has also been working to create a consistent coaching environment between the NBA and G League to ease the transition for players like Dick.

Dick is taking advantage of the opportunity to play at both levels, and he is confident that his experience will help him develop into a well-rounded player. He is grateful for the support he has received from both teams and is excited to see what the future holds.
