Today, Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Maddison had an interview during which he talked about his idol Beckham.
Maddison said: "In my early soccer career, I was a Manchester United fan and Beckham was the number one idol. The shirt number on my back will always be his and I would constantly mimic his free kicks in my garden."
"Even in the classroom at school, I watch Beckham's free-kick highlights on social media, which is really stupid. I'm really enjoying the new Beckham documentary, his on-field observations are unrivaled and people usually forget what a great player he used to be just because he's a celebrity."
Maddison joined Tottenham Hotspur in a £40million move back from Leicester City this summer and has subsequently been a revelation in the new season, scoring two goals and dishing out five assists in his first eight games.
And recently Netflix released a documentary on Beckham, which looks at his life and what he has achieved in his career.
